The Sea Salt Caramel Truffles from Prestat are described as 'grown up truffles'. The caramel centre is held in a 70% cocoa chocolate truffle shell which is dusted with fine cocoa powder. Prestat, established in 1902, are one of London's oldest chocolate shops and you can find their products in leading stores like Harrods, Selfridges and many fine food shops throughout UK.

I have a soft spot for truffles and so when I was sent the Sea Salt Caramel Truffles, I was excited to say the least. The box that the truffles come in, is itself so beautiful. I loved the colour combination and the design. The box contains bite size truffles that looked lovely and I had to resist trying them out before I had them photographed them :) After the photography session, as I bit down through the dark chocolate shell, the caramel came flooding into my mouth. It was not overly sweet or overpowering. The sweetness was balanced well with the bitterness of the dark chocolate but I felt that the taste of salt could have been a little more prominent. If the caramel was a wee bit more salty, I would have given it full marks. But nonetheless, they are lovely treats and I could not put the box down once I started tasting them.

Priced at £11.00 for 175g, you can purchase these truffles online at: prestat.co.uk
