Fast and Effortless Cleaning With the Vileda Windomatic Vacuum Cleaner

I like my house to be clean and take a keen interest in keeping it spick-and-span. If there are any gadgets or appliances that make house-cleaning a little less time-consuming and less effortless, I am all for it. We have been testing the Vileda Windomatic window cleaning vacuum kit for the past month and it has been working brilliantly.

Vileda Windomatic
Vileda are well known for their expertise in home cleaning. They have an impressive range of high quality and innovative products that make housework easier. We have been using their Steam mop for many months now and it makes cleaning so much easier. So, when we were sent the Windomatic I had hopes that it would work as effectively as the Steam mop. Did it? Read on to know how the Windomatic fared.

How Windomatic Works

The Windomatic vacuum cleaner works by sucking up dirt and water from windows into its integrated water tank. First, you need to wash the windows with your regular window cleaning liquid and then use the Windomatic like you would use a hand-held vacuum cleaner. The rubber edges of the Windowmatic suck in all the water and dirt. Windomatic has an unique flexible neck that enables you to reach into window corners and edges giving a complete wipe without the need to polish the windows again. With regular usage I have learnt the correct angles I need to flex the neck in, for it to work as desired.

Vileda Windomatic
Windomatic is cordless, light-weight and has an ergonomic grip, making it easy to maneouvre and use.

The water tank can be removed for easy cleaning. The vacuum is powered by a re-chargeable Lithium-ion battery and the charge lasts around 20-25 minutes (offering up to 60m² of cleaning area per charge). It took me a couple of uses to understand the right way to get maximum benefits out of the Windomatic. The trick is to use it slowly and to ensure that you are holding it with the right amount of pressure and at the right angle. When used correctly, the Windomatic gives a good, streak-free finish to windows. I have also found it very efficient for removing condensation. It works brilliantly to clean mirrors in the bathroom. Even the mirrors on our wardrobe doors have benefitted from Windomatic's cleaning effect.

The list does not end there. I have used it to clean the glass door of the oven and the tiled area of our kitchen walls while Mr.H has tested it on the car windows. In all the cases, Windomatic is quick to use and efficient in terms of results. The only small improvement we would like to see is an increase in the amount of charge Windomatic holds. Other than that, we are very pleased with the Windomatic. It is definitely a very useful product that makes your cleaning chores easier and quicker.

Windomatic has an RRP of £49.99, but can be purchased for a reduced price of £29.99 on Amazon (at the time of writing this post). You can check Vileda's entire range on their website.

Fast, Chemical-free Cleaning with the Vileda Steam Mop, Review

For some reason I recently re-looked at the floor cleaning solutions I was using at home and was alarmed when I read the ingredients list. I decided to cut down on the use of chemical floor cleaners and started looking at natural alternatives. Around the same time, the Vileda Steam mop arrived at our home.  Vileda is an internationally recognised household brand who are well known for their mechanical cleaning products.

Vileda Steam Mop

The Vileda Steam mop is a quick and lightweight way to hygienically clean your floors without the use of chemical solutions. The steam mop was very easy to assemble. A quick read through the instructions manual and I had the mop assembled in under two minutes. The box includes the main mop unit, 2 durable microfiber cleaning pads, a filling jug and a carpet glider attachment for cleaning carpets. Once the mop is assembled, you fill up the water tank and plug into the mains. After a very quick 15 seconds heat up, the mop is ready to use. There is a knob just above the water tank to adjust the amount of steam released. The mop is suitable for all hard sealed floors such as tiles, laminate, vinyl and wood.

The fully assembled mop weighs around 2.2kgs(yes, it is lightweight) and is very easy to carry around. One feature that impressed me was the mop's long handle. A well thought of design as it lets me reach under/the back of the furniture without having to rearrange anything. The triangular swivel head also makes it easy to manoeuvre around furniture with ease. With a fully filled water tank(400ml) the steam mop gives around 28 minutes of steaming/cleaning time.

The Vileda Steam mop is a pleasure to use. It makes the task of cleaning floors so much easier and effective. We have wooden flooring all around the house(bathroom excluded) and I used to use wooden floor cleaners and wooden floor wipes earlier. But with the Vileda Steam mop, I have drastically cut down on the use of chemical cleaners. The microfiber cleaning cloth and steam help loosen dirt particles from the floor and trap them in the fibres leaving the floor clean. I am really enjoying using this steam mop to clean the floors - it works as claimed, is efficient and saves time.

Why don't you try it too? You can purchase the Vileda Steam mop for £89.99 here. Let me know how you find it, if you decide to purchase/try it.

Luxury Cleaning Products from Iron & Velvet

Take a walk along the household cleaning aisle in any supermarket and you will find a range of products like floor cleaners, disinfectants, antibacterial wipes, window sprays, lime scale removers etc. And all this from a range of brands. Iron & Velvet, the brand that I am talking about today, are also in the cleaning products industry; but what sets them apart from others is their ethos which revolves around quality, performance and experience.

Iron & Velvet have over 30 years’ of experience in the manufacture and development of specialist cleaning solutions that are used in the metal finishing industry. Recently they launched a range of high quality, luxury cleaning products for use in and around the home. The range includes 14 cleaning solutions  manufactured using only the best materials in their facility in West Midlands. The product range is split into two categories:
Interior collection - products designed to ensure a clean and pleasant living environment with Kitchen, Bathroom and Household specific items.
Exterior collection - innovative cleaning solutions for use outside the home including Garden and Car Care ranges.

I was sent two products from the 'Interior Collection' to test:
  • Bathroom Multi-surface Cleanser (Orange and Ginger) 500ml, £7.49
  • Kitchen Anti-bacterial Surface Cleaner (Coconut and Lime) 500ml, £7.49

The packaging of both the products I received(in fact the entire range) is practical and has a touch of luxury to it. The bottles are see-through and this makes it easy to gauge the amount of product left. While both the bottles were of different shapes, the top spray nozzle was similar. It has a locking feature to prevent accidental spraying. A simple yet very practical design. I also loved the colours used for each range of products - very eye-catching.

The bathroom multi-surface cleanser is just what it claims to be - a versatile product which can be used on different bathroom surfaces and helps remove soap marks and even lime scale build-up. You can spray and wipe clean with a damp cloth for mild cleaning whereas for heavy soils you can leave it on for 5-10 minutes before wiping clean. Works well in all scenarios. I loved the 'Orange & Ginger' fragrance as it left the bathroom smelling lovely.

The kitchen anti-bacterial surface cleaner is again a multi-purpose product and can be used on worktops, hobs, kitchen tiles, cupboard doors and handles etc. It has an antibacterial agent included in it to reduce  risk of food poisoning. I have tested it on a range of surfaces in the kitchen and love the result. The hobs were sparkling clean with minimal effort. And the best part is the delicious fragrance of 'Coconut & Lime'.

To sum it up, I loved both the products. There is no doubt that these are high quality, effective and luxury products. Not only do they score well on the cleaning aspect but also get top points for the packaging and appearance. And with fragrances like Honeysuckle, Orange & Ginger, Amber & Lavender, Blue Lagoon and Apple & Mint to name a few, I feel you should give these a try. If you are interested and want to browse through the entire range of products from Iron & Velvet, you can do so here.

CyberClean - Home & Office Cleaning Products

CyberClean are a brand that have an exciting range of cleaning products designed to be used with all types of gadgets (tablets, cameras, smart phones, laptops, plasma screens and many more). Their range also includes an unique product called the 'Cleaning Compound' which is designed to clean keyboards, remote controls and gaming controllers etc. I was recently sent the CyberClean TV Screen & Remote Cleaner to try out. The pack consists of two products - the Screen Cleaner and the Cleaning Compound in a pot.

The TV Screen Cleaner has been specifically designed to clean TV plasma screens; you can however use it to clean computer screens as well. Cleaning is simple - spray once or twice and then gently wipe the screen using the cleaning cloth at the back of the cleaner. I cleaned all the laptop screens at home with this cleaner and it left no traces of dirt or finger prints. The design is ergonomic and stylish. In the aesthetic department it scores much more than other screen cleaners. And on the cleaning front as well it does well but most screen cleaners would do the same.

The product that won me over was the CyberClean Cleaning Compound. It has an unique jelly like texture, somewhat like 'Flubber' - a bit more soft and malleable maybe. The compound can be moulded into any crevice/gap and removes dirt from places a normal cleaner would not be able to reach. You can use the Cleaning Compound to clean keyboards, phones, remote controls, ventilation grills and cameras. In fact any device that has hard to reach areas can be cleaned with the Cleaning Compound.

I did not clean my keyboard and laptop screen for a few days, just to show you folks the 'before vs. after' pictures :) So here it goes. On the left hand side is my grubby keyboard and to the right it shows the cleaner version. I could not get crisp/clear pictures of the areas between the keys, but the Cleaning Compound picked up all the little bits that were present between the keys.

Using the Cleaning Compound is easy. Take it out of the cup and gently place it on the keyboard. Do not rub. Simply press it on, leave for a couple of minutes and then roll it over. The compound feels very soft and a bit runny, but it comes off easily. It does not leave any residue behind.

I also used it clean my camera lens and was quite happy with the results. Mr. H loved the Cleaning Compound. He has used it to clean a range of his electrical gadgets and is very pleased with the results. The cleaning compound has an antiseptic solution and claims to kill 99.9% of germs as well.

Another plus point of the Cleaning Compound is that it is reusable. The compound digests the dirt it picks up and locks it away within itself. Once the CyberClean compound changes colour (from neon yellow to a neon green) then it’s time for you to pick up a new one. Overall, I am extremely happy with the Cleaning Compound - it doesn't look or feel like a conventional cleaner, but its so easy to use and does the job very well.

The TV Screen & Remote Cleaner pack is priced at £25.00 and can be picked up online at CyberClean. The Cleaning Compound is  also sold individually in a pot(£8.00) and in a zip pouch(£5.00).

What do you think of the CyberClean range of cleaning products? Have you used any of them? Would you give the Cleaning Compound a go?
