Skincare tips for Summer

Skincare woes can put a dampener on summer fun. But with a few tried-and-tested skincare tips you can prevent summer skincare problems and enjoy the sun all season long.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation helps to get rid of dead skin cells and any dirt or grime and should continue to be a part of your skincare routine even in the summer months. If you plan to be outdoors for a long period of time, hold off on exfoliating. But otherwise exfoliating once a week works great for the facial skin and once or twice per week is great for the body.

You can use face scrubs, body scrubs, exfoliating sponges, loofahs or exfoliating mitts depending on your skin type and personal preference.

You can check out a range of exfoliators here.

Don't skip the sunscreen

Too much exposure to UV rays from the sun can cause a number of problems like sunburns, skin ageing, eye damage and even skin cancer, according to experts. So, when you are out, it is best to protect your skin by using a  broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 SPF.

Sunscreen should be applied 15 minutes before you head outdoors and every two hours while out in the sun. While it will not protect you completely, it does lower the risk of skin damage due to sun exposure.

Compare and pick your sunscreen here.

Hydration

Proper hydration is essential not only for good skin but also for your overall health. So, make sure you drink enough water. Invest in a good, reusable water bottle and carry it in your backpack or bag, so that you have sufficient water to drink on the go.

Minimal make-up

When the temperatures go up, you might notice that you automatically gravitate towards a very minimal makeup routine. This is because in hot weather, too much makeup can feel real heavy and might even run or smear easily. So, to avoid your makeup caking or your foundation sliding down your face, opt for light and simple makeup. You could swap your foundation for a BB cream or a tinted moisturiser. Similarly, you could use a lip gloss instead of heavy matte lipsticks. Simple swaps for a flawless look and your skin will thank you for it.

Check out a range of summer makeup here.

Face masks for glowing skin

And my final tip is to use a hydrating face mask to intensely moisturise your skin and keep it radiant through the sweltering summer days. Rich in ingredients that work to soothe, hydrate and repair problem skin is the AQ Skin Solutions Intensive Moisturising Repair Mask.
AQ Skin Solutions Intensive Moisturising Repair Mask
The hydro-gel mask contains AQ's patented 'Growth Factor' formula which has been clinically developed to match, in identical form, the growth factors found within the human body. According to the makers, the intensive mask increases cell and blood vessel production, as well as collagen and elastin production for a youthful complexion with healthy, radiant skin.

And here's another tip, chill the mask before use. So, when you apply it, you will feel an instant cooling sensation on the skin. As the mask hugs the contours of your face and works its magic in you will find that it hydrates and deeply nourishes the skin leaving it radiant and luminous.

AQ Skin Solutions Intensive Moisturising Repair Masks comes in a pack of 4 and is priced at £84.00 You can order it online from www.dermacaredirect.co.uk

  2. Even though I'm only in my garden at the moment, I always ensure I have sun cream on, even if the sun doesn't seem that strong because it's cloudy too you have to protect your skin. I also drink plenty of water.

  3. Make sure you wear sunscreen and also a hat as the sun can certainly burn the top of your head through your hair without your realising it until it is too late!
