The Deluxe Sittingwell Back Support Cushion

Sitting for long periods, no matter how good your posture, is sure to affect your back. I have postural issues and coupled with work that involves sitting in front of the computer for long periods of time, I often end up with nagging lower back pain. Hot compresses, topical pain relief applications and at times pain killers are what give me relief. I have made a conscious effort to reduce my dependence on pain medications and have incorporated yoga and stretching exercises into my daily routine. I have also made other lifestyle changes and am always on the lookout for ways to help keep back pain away. So, when the opportunity came to test the Sittingwell Back Support Cushion, I happily took up the offer.

The Deluxe Sittingwell Back Support Cushion

The Deluxe Sittingwell Back Support Cushion is handmade in the UK and has a back support integrated within a standard size cushion meaning you get the best support for your back. The cushion fits inside a standard 45cm x 45cm cushion cover and comes with either polyester foam or duck feather filling. I picked the feather padded cushion as these last significantly longer than their polyester fibre counterparts. Like I mentioned earlier, the cushion has a back support integrated within but once you put on the cushion cover, it looks just like any other cushion and no one would know it is a back support cushion. In one of my wine damask cushion covers the back support cushion blends in really well with the room décor.

Although it doesn't look different from a normal cushion (with the cover on), the difference is in the support the cushion offers to your lower back. The cushion makes you sit up straight, improves your posture, supports your lower back and all this results in you sitting more comfortably even for longer periods of time.

I have used it on the sofa, on the armchair and even in the bed to sit against while enjoying a spot of night time reading and it works well in all scenarios. It gives firm support to the lower back.

The Deluxe Sittingwell Feather Back Support Cushion, which I was sent, retails at £69.99.  The polyester version is priced a little cheaper at £45.99. The prices may appear steep for a cushion but it is well worth investing especially if you suffer from lower back pain.

The cushion comes in an ethically sourced reusable canvas bag. A nice touch.
