Starflower Oil - Health Supplement to Maintain Hormonal Balance

Today I will be reviewing one of my favourite health supplements - Starflower Oil.

Starflower Oil is said to be one of nature's richest known source of the essential fatty acid GLA. Gamma linolenic acid (GLA) is a dietary omega-6 fatty acid which helps in minimising the frequency and severity of migraine attacks. Since I suffer from migraines, I thought of trying this supplement and see if it helps with my migraine episodes.

I ordered the Starflower Oil capsules from the Healthspan website. Here is some information about the product from the website. Nutritional Values: Typical values per capsule, % RDA (where applicable) in brackets:
- Pure Starflower Oil 500mg of which GLA 22% (representing approx 110mg)
- Natural Source Vitamin E 5mg (50)

Ingredients: Starflower Oil, Capsule Shell (Modified Starch - of vegetable origin, Maltitol Syrup, Glycerin, Glycerin Monostearate), Natural Source Vitamin E.

My experience: I have been using the capsules for about 4-5 weeks now and it has helped with my migraine. Erratic hormones are one of the triggers for migraine in me. These capsules have helped a lot in reducing the severity of the migraine. I still get the migraines but they are not as severe or debilitating as they used to be. Apart from this, the capsules have been effective in balancing hormones. I have noticed that it reduces the pre-menstrual breast pain and also the severity of menstrual cramps. An added bonus is the beneficial effect it has on skin because of its Vitamin E content. Overall, its a fabulous product for ladies.
