Do you have problem skin? Pimples, red spots, acne etc. can be caused due to a number of reasons including stress and hormonal changes. Whatever the cause, these break-outs can be quite frustrating to deal with. In today's post, I share with a wonderful find that can help deal with problem skin.

silicolskin is a 10-minute gel that "removes bacteria and excess oil from problem skin to help reduce spots and blackheads".

The key ingredient in the gel is colloidal silica (also known as silicic acid), a compound of silicon & oxygen, two of the most abundant substances on earth and one which has the ability to bind to a variety of harmful and irritating substances.

According to silicolskin, the gel works naturally to absorb irritants, impurities and bacteria and helps calm and soothe the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin).

Our experience with silicolskin

I tend to get hormonal acne regularly - whiteheads and tiny pimples that make an appearance around my nose and chin. While these usually disappear on their own in a few days time, I used silicolskin to see if it helps manage them. And it did. The gel helped clear up the zits quickly.

Mr.H also put silicolskin to test. He suffers from stubborn adult acne and the main benefit he has noticed with regular usage of silicolskin is a reduction in the number of blocked pores. He has been religiously applying silicolskin (once every day, 5 applications each week) and his skin, especially the problem areas, are now less oily. While the spots haven't stopped forming completely, there certainly is a reduction in the redness and swelling associated with them.

He gives a thumbs up to silicolskin and bonus points for the product being alcohol and perfume free as both of these irritate his facial skin.

Overall, both myself and Mr.H are pleased with the gel. It is easy to apply (clear gel, with a mildly gritty texture, non-perfumed) and is good at tackling spots - reduces their size significantly in a few usages - and has helped improve the appearance of problem skin.
