L’Erbolario Clay & Propolis Face Pack

Italian beauty brand L’Erbolario recently launched in the UK. Founded in 1978 in Lodi (Italy), L’Erbolario has an extensive range of perfumes, oils, creams, soaps and conditioners. L’Erbolario makes use of freshly pressed vegetable oils, flower waters and herbs in their products and all their products are made with the best of traditional herbalist methods combined with the most advanced cosmetics research while also meeting ethically acceptable industry standards.

I had not heard of L’Erbolario until I was asked if I would like to review one of their products. Due to some hormonal imbalances, my skin has become a tad oily, especially around the T-zone. Yes, even in this cold winter weather! My skin can behave weirdly at times and this is one of those instances. I have had to re-modify my skincare routine and was looking for a face pack that is aimed at oily skin. I found the Clay & Propolis Face Pack(Facial Mask) on the L’Erbolario site. It is a purifying and astringent face pack for combination and oily skin - just what I needed to combat my current facial skin condition.

According to L’Erbolario, the face pack "combines the cosmetic properties of Propolis with the astringent action of Clay, enhanced by sulphurated amino acids. It removes flaking cells and impurities and restores equilibrium with a delicate but effective action."

The face pack feels really nice and cool on application. I applied it in an even layer over my face and neck and massaged it gently for a few minutes as per the directions on the pack. The mask dried up in around 15-20 minutes. I do not leave clay masks on for longer than that time frame as they feel quite tight once they dry. After 15-20 minutes you need to rinse off the face pack with warm water and follow up with a toner if required. The mask though a clay based one, did not wash off as easily as I had expected it to. It was a bit creamy, so I had to use my face sponge to remove it. But I am very pleased with the results. The face pack left my skin super soft, shine-free and radiant. It does seem to draw out the dirt, oil and dead cells but does not leave the skin dry/flaky. Would I buy it? Definitely. And I would recommend it as well for those of you with oily and "combination" skin types. While the mask did not cause any skin irritation in my case(and I have sensitive skin), those with sensitive skin would be better off if they were to first test out the mask on a small portion of the skin. I always do this with new products.
