My newfound love for fragrances means that I love trying out scents that I have not used/would not have tried earlier. I am so pleased that the lovely Polly from Floris London sent out some samples including the newly launched Soulle Ambar to me. Before I get on with the fragrances a little bit about the company. I really like it when a company has a long history attached to it. Floris London was founded in 1730 by Juan Famenias Floris and his wife. The shop that they opened at 89 Jermyn Street in London is still open and run by their descendants today. How cool is that?

Soulle Ambar: The latest addition(launched on 5th Sept 2013) to Floris' range, Soulle Ambar means sunlight and eastern wind. The fragrance starts off on a green, fresh and crisp note opening up into a sweet and spicy blend of Jasmine and Pepper. I love this part the most. Completes with a sensual base of Vanilla and Musk. To sum it up, it is a wonderful Oriental fragrance for ladies. Mr H liked the fragrance on me.
Top notes: bergamot, galbanum, pineapple, lentisque
Heart notes: pink peppercorn, geranium, jasmine, melilot
Base notes: amber, vanilla, musk

White Rose: Though this fragrance is labelled as White Rose, it begins with a floral rose and sort of ends in a soft musky violet. The fragrance is delicate, sweet with a light dusting of rose, perfect for work. Very feminine but stayed on me for just about 4 hours.
Top Notes: aldehydic, carnation, green
Heart Notes: iris, rose, jasmine, violet
Base Notes: amber, musk, powdery notes

Seringa: This one is a nice scent - classy green floral. It is based on the Seringa flower also known as mock orange blossom. It starts off quite sharp but then leaves you with a fresh somewhat spicy floral scent. Perfect for day wear and my favourite of the 3 that I tried.
Top Notes: bergamot, green, violet leaf
Heart Notes: carnation, jasmine, lily, rose, seringa, ylang ylang
Base Notes: frankincense, musk, oak moss, patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla

No 89: A woody fragrance for men, this one is clean and casual. It is not very overbearing and is a fragrance for all seasons.  This one could be a unisex fragrance because even I enjoyed wearing it.
Top Notes: bergamot, lavender, neroli, nutmeg, orange, petitgrain
Heart Notes: geranium, rose, ylang ylang
Base Notes: cedar wood, musk, oak moss, sandalwood, vetiver

Elite: Another wonderful woody fragrance for men, Elite was launched in 1980. It smells great on Mr H with its warm and woody scent. The name has been selected aptly because this fragrance is for the mature man and not for young teens. It would suit a working man well. If you are looking for a classic fragrance for your man, go for Elite. Though Mr H liked both the fragrances, Elite was his favourite because he feels it has a touch of sophistication to it. The fragrance starts off quite strong, hits you in the first few seconds but what I liked was the base notes of amber and musk which linger on for a long time. Staying power is good.
Top Notes: bergamot, cedar leaf, grapefruit, juniper berry, lemon, petitgrain
Heart Notes: bay, fir balsam, lavender
Base Notes: amber, cedar wood, leather, moss, musk, patchouli, vetiver

You can pick up the Floris fragrances online or alternately find a stockist near you. Which of the above fragrances do you think would be your favourite?
