Best vegan soap bars

Ad

Both myself and Mr.H prefer soap bars (vegan ones) to shower gels. And with so many different brands of vegan and cruelty-free soap bars now available in the market, one is spoilt for choice.

Vegan soap bars are typically made with plant-based ingredients. These may include oils like coconut, olive, almond, or hemp seed oil, along with various botanical extracts and essential oils for fragrance. Common ingredients used to create a solid soap base include vegetable oils, shea butter, or cocoa butter. Vegan soap bars are not tested on animals and the production process avoids any animal exploitation. They are certified as cruelty-free, meaning no animals were harmed during the creation or testing of the product.

I have also noticed that vegan soap bars often emphasise sustainability and eco-friendliness. They typically come in minimal or recyclable packaging, and many brands prioritise using natural and biodegradable ingredients where possible.

Whatever your reason for using vegan soap bars - because it aligns with your ethical values, because of sensitive skin/allergies, or because you are seeking more natural and sustainable personal care options - this roundup will introduce you to some of our favourite vegan soap bar brands. Take a look.

RINGANA FRESH Soap

RINGANA is an award-winning vegan skincare and wellness brand who make their luxury products in small batches, using only the freshest and most sustainable, pure ingredients. These extremely effective products even have an expiry date because it’s a sign of their absolute freshness.

Hand-scooped, hand-cut and hand-stamped, RINGANA's FRESH Soap has Aloe Vera as one of the main active ingredients in it. Aloe Vera is known for its moisturising and soothing properties and also helps the skin's cell renewal process and improves its elasticity. Along with Aloe, the soap with its exclusively organic formula contains precious oils, including almond oil and black cumin oil, as well as saponified coconut oil and olive oil.

RINGANA FRESH Soap

It is a gentle and natural formulation that is perfect for daily use. The soap has a lovely delicate fragrance and lathers well. And best of all it feels wonderful on the skin.

As a bonus, each FRESH soap is also handily packaged in a hand towel. I loved this idea!

RINGANA FRESH Soap (100g, £8.87) can be ordered from www.ringana.com

At present, RINGANA also have 2 limited edition FRESH Soaps - Yuzu Soap and Goji & Pink Pepper Soap both very luxurious and nourishing for the skin and beautifully scented as well.

Bio D Soap Bars

Bio D was founded in the 1980s by Michael Barwell with the aim to create a range of cleaning products that were made from  naturally derived products, were effective and ethical. Today the company is headed by Lloyd Atkin, the first employee of Bio D.

Bio-D, who secured their B Corp certification last year, recently launched a brand-new, 100% naturally derived soap bar range.

Bio D Soap Bars

The soaps are made with over 65% organic content and are both cruelty-free and vegan. There are currently 3 fragrances to choose from:

- Lime & Aloe Vera
- Plum & Mulberry
- Mandarin

The soaps are naturally scented with essential oils which is great. While all three are lovely fragrances, I loved the scent of Plum & Mulberry.

All soap bars contain high levels of Vitamin E and are free from formaldehyde, SLS, SLES, MI, synthetic dyes, synthetic perfumes, and MPG.

The plant-based formulations of the soap gently cleanse the face and body to leave skin feeling fresh and moisturised. Based on our experience, I feel these would work even for those with sensitive skin.

The Bio-D Soap Bar range has an RRP of £2.93 and can be purchased online from www.biod.co.uk

Dr Bronner's Soap Bars

I am sure you have heard of Dr. Bronner's. It is a popular brand known for its iconic All-One Magic Soap. With no synthetic preservatives, detergents, or foaming agents, this really is the best liquid soap for just about any cleaning task. But did you know that Dr Bronner’s have a fabulous bar soap range too, which is equally great!

Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Bar Soaps are biodegradable-vegan, gentle and versatile, good for washing body, face or hair! All the soaps are made with certified fair trade ingredients and organic hemp oil for a soft, smooth lather that won't dry your skin. The packaging is 100% post-consumer recycled wrapper.

Dr Bronner's Soap Bars

We have included three of their awesome soaps in this roundup.

  • Eucalyptus: Earthy and warm, with a powerful menthol burst to open breathways and focus the mind! Scented purely with organic eucalyptus oil.
  • Cherry Blossom: Has subtle scents of cherry and cherry blossoms.
  • Baby Unscented: With no added fragrance and double the olive oil, the Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Bar Soap is good for sensitive skin & babies too (not tear-free though!).

My favourite of the three is the Eucalyptus one that smells great and leaves one feeling refreshed.
