Last week marked my eighth week of using Tria Beauty's Age-Defying Laser as a part of daily skincare routine. So as promised, I thought I would update you with how I got on with the age-defying laser and what improvements I saw in my skin.

Let me start with a little introduction of the Age-Defying Laser. The laser has been designed in collaboration with dermatologists and plastic surgeons and uses the same technology as professional clinic treatments. The laser sends targeted beams of light deep within the skin to stimulate collagen production thus bringing about an improvement to the overall texture, tone and clarity of the skin. You can read more about how to use the laser in my older post here.

I had started off with Level 1 of treatment and over the 8 weeks I have moved to Level 2 (medium). I did try Level 3 but found that my skin tolerated Level 2 better. The feeling when you use the laser is somewhat similar to laser treatment in a clinic - maybe a little less sensation of heat and tingling but overall of the same kind.

In the first couple of weeks I did not notice any visible improvements - a few times I had a slight redness on the skin but that eventually subsided. By week 4, I could feel and see that my skin was looking a little plumper indicating that new collagen was being generated. After 8 weeks of use, my facial skin feels a little more smoother than it used to be but I haven't noticed any major difference in facial pigmentation or discolouration. However, the very fine lines (especially on my forehead) seem to have reduced making my forehead more even and smoother in appearance. The results are not what you would get from an in-clinic treatment but I am happy with the changes the treatment has afforded so far. It takes just a few minutes of my time everyday and I can do it in the comfort and privacy of my home.

In any such treatment, I believe the key is discipline and patience. You need to use the tool regularly and as directed. I have been sticking to my routine and in the 8 weeks of use, I may have only missed using the laser 5-6 times.

I am now giving my skin a rest for 4 weeks as suggested by Tria. This 4 week rest will allow maximum cellular and collagen regeneration. I will begin another 8 week treatment course after that.
