4 Protein Snacks You Can Eat On The Go

4 High Protein Snacks You Can Eat On The Go

Mars and Snickers Protein Bars

Lovers of Mars and Snickers will love these new protein bars from the brand. Mars Protein bar retains Caramel and Chocolate for that distinctive and delicious Mars taste while packing in 19gm of protein per bar. This is such a yummy way to enjoy protein in your diet. While the bar is not as sweet as the traditional Mars bar, it still has a sugar content that many of you may not like. I would call it a slightly healthier version of the original Mars bar - it gives an energy boost with a good dose of protein. Personally I liked it - both for its taste and the protein content.

The Snickers bar is a yummy combination of nuts, caramel and chocolate with a soft nougaty centre. Just like Mars Protein, I would consider this a slightly healthier version of the classic Snickers bar. It is chewy, has chocolate and nuts and 18gm protein in each 51g bar. I am not a fitness freak or someone who works out a lot at the gym. While I do keep a count on the calories, I am also fine with some amount of sugar in my diet as such I am okay with the sugar content in both the bars. I see these bars as a replacement to the traditional chocolate bars - they are tasty, palatable and contain protein.

Mars and Snickers Protein bars are available on Amazon with an RSP of £2.19.

Aduna Moringa Green Superleaf Energy Bar

Called the Miracle Bar, the Aduna Moringa Green Superleaf Energy Bar contains 100% organic Moringa, Mango and Cashew. Moringa is known as the Drumstick tree in India and we use its tender leaves and long, drumstick like seed pods in curries. I have never used Moringa in any other form, so was surprised to see it being used in a health bar. The Aduna Moringa bar is spiced with Ginger, contains 13 essential vitamins and minerals at RDA levels, nearly 25% plant protein and is high in antioxidants. It does not have any added Sugar while also being Gluten, Wheat and Dairy free. Of all the 4 products listed in this post, this one is the most natural with just a handful of ingredients and contain 5.3gm protein per 45gm bar. It tastes sweet and delicious and is perfect for those looking for a 'green' energy bar.

Ingredients: Dates, Cashew Nuts 22%, Dried Mango 20%, Apple Juice, Rice Protein 8%, Moringa Leaf Powder 5%, Ground Ginger.

Aduna Moringa Green Superleaf Energy Bar is available from WholeFoods Market, Holland & Barrett, Planet Organic, Nutricentre, Food for Thought, As Nature Intended, Revital, Panacea, John Bell & Croydon and online at www.aduna.com. Price: £1.89 each.

Kinetica Protein Deluxe Bar

The Kinetica Protein Deluxe Bar comes in two flavours:
  • Cookies & Cream : crunchy vanilla biscuit flavour with a layer of caramel and milk chocolate coating (Per 65g Bar: Energy 247kcal, Fat 11g, Carbohydrates 23g, of which sugars 2.3g, Protein 21g, Salt 0.3g)
  • Chocolate Brownie : crunchy chocolate with a layer of caramel and milk chocolate coating (Per 65g Bar: Energy 245kcal, Fat 11g, Carbohydrates 25g, of which sugars 2.3g, Protein 20g, Salt 0.3g)
I would place these bars between the Mars/Snickers Bar and the Moringa Bar both for taste and based on ingredients. The bars have a good percentage of high quality protein, only 2.3 grams of sugar in each bar and are gluten-free and free from artificial flavours and colours. These are perfect as a meal on the go or in between workouts. The RRP for the 65g Protein Deluxe bars is £2.79 each and you can purchase them from www.KineticaSports.com

There are no artificial colours or flavours and there is 17.2gm of Protein per 100g serving. The almonds also come in two other flavours - Roasted with Sea Salt and Smokehouse. All variants have an RRP of £1.59 and are available in most supermarkets.
