It is Degustabox time on the blog. Last week we received the April Degustabox and as always it was packed full of yummy foodie treats. I am sure most of you must be aware of Degustabox and for those who are not, here is an introduction to the box. Degustabox is a food subscription box that costs £12.99 including delivery. You need to pay before the 10th of each month and your box will be with you before the end of the same month. The Degustabox team selects and packs around 10-15 products in the box each month. These products are carefully selected ensuring there is a nice blend of products and you can be assured that the price you pay for the box will always be less than the total value of the products sent to you. There is no contract involved unlike many other subscription boxes, so there are no hassles on that front.

Let us take a look at the contents of the April box.

  • Veetee - Basmati Rice
  • Veetee - Wholegrain + Quinoa Rice
  • Thor Drinks - Mint/ Apple Soft Drink
  • Green Lady - Sparkling Tea
  • Rejuvenation Water - Apple and Mint
  • Parle - Premium Rusk
  • Parle - Parle G
  • Kervangida - Bebeto Fruit Strings
  • Pop Chips - Sea Salt, Garlic & Rosemary
  • Levi Roots - Coat n Cook Marinade
  • Merisant - Canderel Sugarly
  • Nestle  - Milkyway Milk Chocolate
  • Nestle  - Smarties block

I regularly purchase Veetee Rice, so the two packets in the box were quite welcome. On busy days, these come in quite handy. Of the two packs, the Wholegrain Brown Rice & Quinoa was one that I hadn't tried earlier and I liked it. The limited edition Sea Salt, Garlic & Rosemary Popchips was scrummy.

There were two products from Parle, the Indian brand. And one of them was my childhood favourite Parle-G - simple and delicious. I love dunking these in my tea. The other product from Parle was the cardamom infused rusk - light, crisp and delicious as claimed.

This months box included three sweet treats. Bebeto Fruit Strings which are chewy, fruit flavoured snacks and would appeal a lot to kids. The fruit strings come in different flavours like Apple, Strawberry, Raspberry and Blackcurrant and are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Another one for the sweet toothed, was the Smarties Sharing Block. A bar of creamy and delicious milk chocolate with whole, crispy sugar shell mini Smarties inside. Need I say more? This was a great tasting treat. A multipack of Milkybar Milk & Crunchy was the third item. Again this is something that will appeal to kids especially because it has a cute cow shape and is also deliciously creamy.

There was a pack of Levi Roots Jerk Coat 'n Cook Sauce which has gone into the food cupboard but will be used up soon. Another useful cupboard staple was Canderel Sugarly. My OH uses low calorie sweeteners instead of sugar and this would be used up by him. Sugarly looks and tastes like sugar but has zero calories.

There were three drinks in the box. Let me begin with my favourite - Green Lady Sparkling Tea. This was a unique and flavoursome drink. Lightly sparkling tea with an infusion of herbs and spices. Simple, very delicious and can definitely work as an alternative to alcohol. You must try it. One of the most refreshing and perfectly balanced beverage I have tried in recent times.

There was also a bottle of Rejuvenation Water (Apple & Mint) - refreshing and flavoursome. Another sparkling beverage was the THØR Dry Apple Spritz. There were two flavours Apple and Mint and both were refreshing.

  1. Such a great selection, but unfortunately I'm steering well away from most of these foods due to doctor's orders and leading a healthier lifestyle!
