Since the mid 30s my skin has started showing signs of aging - frown lines are developing on the forehead and very fine lines have come up under the eyes. If you have been following my blog, you would know that I believe in taking care of my skin with a regular skincare routine along with healthy diet and habits. I do not think I would ever opt for surgical and invasive procedures(i.e. Botox, face lifts etc.). I have nothing against these procedures as such but I am personally not comfortable with them. However, if there was a way to smoothen wrinkles without resorting to such procedures, I would go for it. In fact I have been trying out one such product for the past few weeks - Realine Beauty Frown Line Patches.

So, what are these Frown Line Patches and how do they work?

Realine Beauty patch is a simple and easy to use anti-ageing product that helps to reduce frown lines without having to use injectables. These patches are made of a latex-free, hypoallergenic clear plastic that is almost invisible. According to Realine Beauty - when you wear the patch, your forehead skin is restricted from movement and the skin area "re-educated" giving the area a smoothed and relaxed appearance which is retained for some time after the patch has been removed. The amount of time the effect lasts would obviously differ from person to person depending on skin's condition.

How to use the Realine patches?

Cleanse and dry your face first. Peel off the backing from the patch and place the patch directly above the eyebrows . Ensure that the patch is not over brow hair. You can leave it on for several hours or overnight depending on your convenience. When you are ready to remove, gently peel the patch away from skin.

Do the Realine patches really work?

According to Realine Beauty "84% of clinical trial participants think so - they said their frown lines appeared smoother after using the patch."

I noticed positive results after the very first use. Honestly I was not expecting it and was surprised at the results. I had applied the patch on my forehead a couple of hours before I went to sleep. The patch was almost invisible and very easy to apply. It did not irritate my skin or cause any discomfort and once applied on the forehead, it stayed in place till I removed it the next morning. When I peeled off the patch the next morning, I immediately noticed that the lines on my forehead were less noticeable. Some of the finer lines were not to be seen. The patches do not have any active ingredients; they are simple non-irritating, clear plastic stickers. So, the way they worked was by simply 're-training' my skin. I noticed that the effects lasted a couple of days before the lines came back :-) It is a temporary fix but one that I absolutely loved. I knew these patches would not give permanent or long lasting results. But before I tried them I was a bit sceptical about the temporary results as well - would it do anything at all? But having used them and seeing that they do work, I am impressed. I would definitely use them again, especially a few days before a special party or event. The only minor drawback I encountered was that the patch left an impression on my forehead :) But even that was temporary - within 30-40 minutes the mark was gone and skin was smooth and even. So, if you are planning to use these before an event, keep an hour or so buffer time in between. Other than that I had no issues with the patches. I have sensitive skin but the patch did not irritate my skin - no redness, no breakouts. Overall, I liked it.
