Taking joy in living is a woman's best cosmetic said Rosalind Russell. I couldn't agree more. I recently came across a brand that is inspired by joy - a brand which believes that beauty isn't just about the quality of your skin or the youthfulness of your complexion because beauty is nothing without warmth, without a smile and most importantly without joy. The brand I am talking about is Ayo.

Ayo(pronounced eye-oh)  means 'joy & happiness' in the Yoruba language. It was founded by Susan Benjamin and she says that her sister Joys magical spirit is the essence behind the brand. The entire Ayo range is centred around two key ingredients - Happy Skin and Cacoa Extract both of which are renowned for stimulating the production of b-endorphins. To put it in simpler words, these ingredients don’t just make you feel great – they also make you feel happy. Ayo has a collection of products named 'Salute the Sun'. The range includes a cleanser, a polisher and a body crème. All the products have a signature fragrance that features notes of Sicilian Bergamot and Mediterranean Lemon, Jasmin Sambac, Geranium Bourbon, Rose Absolute, Indian Sandalwood, Patchouli and Vanilla Absolute.

Ayo Salute the Sun Body Creme

I was delighted when I received Ayo Salute the Sun Body Crème. I love botanical products and the signature fragrance for this range sounded like something I would enjoy. And I was not wrong. When I held the tub of crème in my hands it did feel like I was holding a jar full of sunshine.

The body crème smells gorgeous and has a very silky feel to it. It is luxurious and sinks beautifully into the skin leaving it baby soft. For my normal-dry skin this has been a treat - not very thick but yet intensely moisturising. The fragrance is undoubtedly the key factor - it is exotic and rich and lingers on the skin for a long time after application. I love it. I think I would enjoy this fragrance immensely in the winters.

The body crème contains Nilotica Shea Butter which is rich in vitamins A and E and antioxidants. It also contains Cacao Butter(which conditions and moisturises), Chia Oil and Vitamin E. With such nurturing and nourishing ingredients included in the product it is no wonder that the body crème provides long lasting hydration. Also worth noting is the fact that the product is free from: parabens, SLS, sodium lauryl ether sulphate, DEA, PEGS, petrolatum, mineral oils, silicones, synthetic colours, synthetic fragrances and animal bi-products. Like Ayo claims, the body crème not only pampers your skin but also uplifts your mood making it a 'Joy' to use.

The Ayo Body Crème is priced at £48.00 for 250ml. You can purchase it online and/or check out the entire Ayo range here.
