OXO Good Grips Kitchen Tools : Ergonomic Design, Easy to Use and Compact

My RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) has been mostly under control for the last one year although there have been flares once in a while. The flares though temporary are highly troublesome as the inflammation and pain makes even simple tasks quite difficult to achieve. During the worst of flares, I find even holding a toothbrush or spoon extremely difficult. Milder flares have struggles like difficulty opening jars, unable to get a good grip on things, pain while chopping vegetables, dropping things and so on. Since being diagnosed with RA I have made a lot of changes in the kitchen so that it is now set up in such a way that it works best for me. I have looked up and purchased some kitchen tools and gadgets that can make simple kitchen chores less daunting when I have painful finger joints. Jar and bottle openers, utensils with ergonomic rubber handles etc. have made things a little bit easier for me.

I recently received two very useful products from OXO:
- Good Grips Chopper and
- Good Grips Two-Fold Grater

OXO Good Grips Hand Held Mixer - Review

When I received the OXO Good Grips Hand-held Mixer to review I was transported to my childhood. My mum used to have a similar hand-held mixer - not as stylish or ergonomic as this one, but which worked on the same principle. I was very happy to see this product - it made me feel nostalgic.

This hand held mixer from OXO looks stylish and retro. It is a vey useful gadget to have in the kitchen especially if you cook from scratch and bake a lot. The handle is made of non-slip material while the beaters are stainless steel. The design of the handle is very ergonomic and comfortable to hold whether you hold it from the sides or from the top. Perfect if you are going to be whisking for a while. The mixer is light weight and easy to use. And importantly it makes very little  noise.

There are 2 buttons on the side which when pressed detach the base. The base is dishwasher safe. The two beaters in the base are themselves individual units and can be separated from the main unit. It is little features like this that make the mixer stand above other similar products.

One of the well thought about features is the addition of an extra bar in the base unit. This elevates the 2 beaters above the base of the bowl thereby not only giving support but also reduces the strain on hands while whisking.

Overall, this is an excellent mixer for beating eggs, mixing batters and whipping cream. Priced at £20.00 you can purchase the mixer online on the Oxo website: www.oxouk.com
