Ready for the rains with Susino Umbrellas

I love sunshine as much as anyone else does, but the last few weeks of blazing sunshine and soaring temperatures have left me longing for a little rain. And a little respite came a few days back with some intermittent rain giving a break from the dry weather. The weather forecast shows more rain spread over the coming week and I am not complaining! The rainy periods also gave me the chance to test three new umbrellas that we received recently from Susino.

Established in 2007, Susino are an umbrella brand based in the UK. They are headquartered in Liverpool and cater to both retail and wholesale customers. Susino manufacture and stock a wide variety of umbrellas including ladies, gentlemen's, children's, golf and special ranges. Their umbrellas come in fun and fashionable designs and are competitively priced. Their range can be classified under two main brands: Susino (the Premium range) and X-brella (the fast-fashion, trend-led range).

Exuviance Age Reverse HydraFirm | Review

One of my favourite aspects of the blogging world is the chance to try out new brands and new products, some of which I may never have thought of trying out myself. This year I have tried out some amazing products from Exuviance, a dermatologist developed skincare range that was created by Drs. Van Scott and Yu and is today widely recognised around the world as leaders in the field of cosmetic dermatology.

You might have read my thoughts on their Detox Mud Treatment, which worked very well for me and which I went on to repurchase as it has become a staple in my skincare routine. Recently I began using one of their products - the Age Reverse HydraFirm cream which according to Exuviance

targets all visible signs of ageing - poor texture, age spots, loss of firmness, and lines & wrinkles. The luxurious serum makes the skin appear more lifted, more hydrated and more firmer.

Cancer Care Parcel | What to buy for someone who is undergoing Chemotherapy?

The number of cancer cases being diagnosed around the world is rising with each passing year. Cancer is an extremely complex condition and there are so many of different types of cancer. Based on the type of cancer, how far it has progressed and the chances of it coming back, determine the route of treatment. Chemotherapy is often used as a main treatment for certain types of cancers. It is also used in conjunction with radiotherapy at times. Chemotherapy works by stopping the cancer cells from reproducing but is also comes with its own set of side effects. Cancer on its own and the chemotherapy treatment for it often cause feelings of anxiety, depression and some fear. It has a huge impact on the patient as well as on their families and caregivers. Having seen two of my mother's close friends being diagnosed with Cancer and with one losing her battle, I can say that it is a life changing diagnosis for the patient and their near and dear ones. Family and friends need to rally around those diagnosed with cancer as social support does tend to lessen the depression and anxiety.

It is hard when a loved one gets cancer. And it is even harder to find the right words to say and offer support. But loving words, encouragement and simple gestures go a long way. They really do make a difference to the patient.

Dr Shara Cohen set up Cancer Care Parcel to bring back a bit of calm into the lives of people suffering with cancer and its treatment. After she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 she found there was very little time to just relax, take it all in and give herself some ‘me’ time. And that led to an idea and she set up Cancer Care Parcel, to enable children and adults with cancer to take some of the worries away and bring some calm back into their lives.

Best Kept Secrets - Seriously Scented Candles

I love the allure of scented candles. Somehow they seem to make a room more inviting; creating a more cosy atmosphere. There are so many candle brands out there with a wide range of scented candles. There are big brands that are quite popular and then there are smaller players and family run businesses who use traditional production and hand finishing techniques. One such brand is 'Best Kept Secrets' who are a family run business based in the town of Morpeth in Northumberland. In addition to candles they also sell natural handmade soaps and reed diffuser sets.

Today's post is about their candles. They have a range of candles called 'Seriously Scented' that are available in three formats - candles in tins, candles in glass and tea light candles. The Candle tins have a burn time of over 50 hours and are available in a number of fragrances like Angel (Honey & caramel with oriental spices), Classic Cotton (Crisp & clean bergamot, lemon, cyclamen & sandalwood), Freesia (Freshly picked freesias, combined with bergamot, tuberose & sandalwood), Gingerbread Cookie (Creamy caramel, mixed spices, ginger & rum) and Parma Violet (Violet, bay & ylang ylang) to name a few.

Aveeno's Daily Moisturising Range for everyday skincare needs

I had reviewed some products from Aveeno's Dermexa range a while back on the blog. That was my first introduction to the brand and both myself and Mr.H had loved the products. Today I am back with a couple of other products from Aveeno; this time from the Daily Moisturising range.

The Daily Moisturising range is formulated with colloidal oatmeal and is ideal for those with normal to dry skin. The range includes around 10 products all of which leave the skin moisturised while protecting against the feeling of dryness. We tried out two products - the Creamy Oil and the Body Yogurt.

Goya Black Rose | A Romantic Fragrance

Usually when one talks about rose based fragrances, one tends to assume it is a scent meant for ladies of a certain age. It couldn't be farther from the truth. A number of perfume houses have fragrances with the exquisite rose scent and these are gaining a lot of popularity with ladies of all ages. Goya's Black Rose is one such excellent rose based fragrance. Black Rose was first launched in 1955 and was very popular in the 50-80s. In 2014, the scent was recreated from the original archived formula and the classic was brought back! I had not used the original version so I could not compare the relaunched version to the older one but let me tell you straight up, the newer version is exquisite - very youthful and stylish - like a beautiful bouquet of fragrant roses.

Oxygenetix Oxygenating Hydro-Matrix Moisturiser

This is my first try from the brand Oxygenetix and I love it. Oxygenetix have a range of ground-breaking products that have been primarily designed to cover blemishes, support healing and help minimise or eliminate post-procedure scars. One of their key products is the Oxygenating Foundation which has the patented Ceravitae™ Complex, aloe and seven layer silica gel technology that forms a breathable matrix and helps supports new skin cell production and the healing process following aesthetic procedures or skin problems. In addition to the Oxygenating Complex, the brand also has a number of other products that help cover and improve a wide variety of skin problems. I tried out the Oxygenetix Hydro-Matrix which contains a similar breathable, second-skin formula as Oxygenating Foundation and is said to oxygenate and promote growth of collagen, new skin cells and connective tissue in aging or compromised skin.

The Dermexa Range from Aveeno

My skin is mostly in good condition because I try and take good care of it. However, sometimes due to my medical conditions and the medications I take, my skin tends to go very dry and/or is inflamed. It usually lasts from a few days to a week before returning to normal. The main problems I face during such times are dry and itchy skin with rashes on my face and neck. At these times I need a really gentle yet effective skincare product to help combat the dryness without causing any further irritation to my skin. And so, I always seek out products that help alleviate the discomfort.

Scünci Hair Brushes

Scünci Hair Brushes
Scünci are a popular and innovative hair accessory brand whose products I am sure you must have seen in Boots, Superdrug or other stores. Their 'No Slip Grip' jaw clips are very popular mainly for their non-slip grip technology that provides comfort and all day hold. But did you know that Scünci also have a range of affordable hair brushes? I wasn't aware until recently and then Scünci sent me two products from their hair brush range to try.

Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment

In recent times, you would have probably seen a number of videos or posts about glossy charcoal masks. While charcoal is a good detoxifier, these peel-off masks can cause a lot more problems than you would imagine. And that is why I steered clear of them. However, I have not been missing out on the detoxifying benefits of Charcoal. I have been using Exuviance's Detox Mud Treatment which is a deep purifying mask and makes use of Japanese Binchotan Charcoal.

Formulated to instantly clarify and refine pores, Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment contains 23% active charcoal, French clay and a patented NeoGlucosamine blend among other ingredients and helps to remove debris and excess oil from the skin.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Range

Who doesn't love well-hydrated skin? Hydrated skin looks supple and healthy. In addition, well-hydrated skin is also less prone to irritations and other skin discomforts. And if you use makeup, then it goes better on hydrated skin as compared to dull, dry skin. The problem with though is that it is very easy for our skin to lose moisture. It could be due to a number of reasons - lifestyle & eating habits, health conditions or climatic conditions & pollution. So it is very important to take care of our skin to ensure it stays radiant and healthy all year long.

I am sure most of you would have heard of Neutrogena. They deliver skincare products that have been developed with help of dermatologists and address a number of skin care needs. The brand has more than 650 products worldwide in categories ranging from face & body care to sun protection and from anti-ageing products to cosmetics. Recently Neutrogena launched a new range called Hydro Boost Body. The star ingredient of the range is Hyaluronic Acid, a super hydrator.

Summer Scents : Aqua Manda & Aqua Citra

Summer is almost here. And along with changes in the wardrobe, it is also time to try out some new scents for the warm season. When I think of summer scents what comes to my mind is the balmy sea breeze, sweet tropical fruits, an exotic bouquet of flowers and refreshing, zesty fragrances. Featured in today's post are two such fragrances that will delight your senses and are sure to be your go-to scents throughout summer.

I have been trying out two summer-y fragrances over the last few weeks - Aqua Manda and Aqua Citra - and love them. Both the scents were popular in the 60s and 70s and were relaunched a few years back with a modern appeal.

The New Stay Cool Cookware Range from Stellar

Having tried a few Stellar products earlier (the Stellar Rocktanium range being one of my favourites), I can vouch for their amazing quality and long life. So, when Stellar released a new cookware range called 'Stay Cool' I knew this would be another good collection from them and it is. I was sent the Stellar Stay Cool 20cm Draining Saucepan to try and it has proved to be a very useful addition to my kitchen over the past few weeks.
