We have been testing out the Ion8 Quench Water Bottle over the past couple of weeks. The 1000ml water bottle is priced at £16.99 and is available to buy online from Amazon. Three things drew me to the water bottle - it is 100% leak proof, it is BPA free and boasts of a good ergonomic design.
The Ion8 water bottles are made from BPA free, phthalate free, non-toxic Tritan by Eastman. Tritan is highly resistant to odours, is Food Authority approved, can be easily cleaned and is even dishwasher safe. The bottle comes in 4 different sizes - 350ml, 500ml, 750ml and the 1 litre model that we have been using. While the bottle is suitable for both hot and cold drinks, we have only used it to hold cold water.
The design of the bottle is well thought of - a scratch resistant and soft touch outer makes it easy to carry around. There is a hand strap as well. Even when travelling, the bottle is totally secure and leak proof. We have carried it in our backpack and once the spout is closed and locked, it is 100% secure. No chances of any leakage. The lid lock is a good feature. I also liked the fact that the bottle has a wide mouth which makes both filling up the bottle and cleaning very easy.
The only thing I did not understand is the presence of volume marks on the outside of the opaque water bottle! Would have made sense if the bottle was see through or even partially transparent as might be the case with the frosted models. The one featured in this post is a solid black colour.
To sum it up, the Ion8 bottle is excellent for use outdoors (when camping, cycling etc. or at the gym) and is equally suitable for use at home. Overall, we liked the bottle for its convenience, design and comfort when using (no squeezing, no annoying nozzles - just easy flow hydration).
