Gin lovers rejoice! It's World Gin Day today. In its ninth year, the day aims to celebrate all things Gin. Gin sales have been growing each year and the quintessentially British spirit has gained a lot of popularity worldwide. Aside from the very popular Gin & Tonic, there are many other gin-based cocktails you can enjoy. Some of them are fancy while some though basic in terms of ingredients, still pack a punch.

Tarquin's 'The Seadog' Navy Strength Gin is Southwestern Distillery's excellent Tarquin's Gin, but bottled at 57%. The higher ABV is the strength at which gunpowder would still ignite if it was accidentally soaked in gin during battle and the strength historically drunk by the Royal Navy. Made using the same traditional distilling and hand-finish methods, the navy strength gin uses increased botanicals (fresh orange, lemon, grapefruit, coriander, cinnamon, violet, juniper, angelica, cardamom, liquorice and almond) to balance the alcohol strength and at the same time maintain the unique Tarquin’s Cornish Gin flavour.

Tarquin’s Salty Dog Cocktail
- Wet the mouth of the glass with grapefruit juice. Dip in sea salt to lightly rim.
- Fill the glass with ice.
- Add the Tarquin’s Navy Strength Gin.
- Add grapefruit juice and a little orange juice.
- Stir well.
- Garnish with grapefruit slice and enjoy!
