I enjoyed drawing and colouring as a child but gradually gave up the habit as an adult. However, in recent times I have gone back to it and enjoy it as much as I did in my childhood. With the advent of adult colouring books in the last few years, my interest in colouring has been renewed. Colouring helps me relax, makes me happy and I feel it is way too much fun to be just enjoyed in one's childhood. If you haven't tried adult colouring books, I would recommend that you try one out. It can help you relax, have a calming effect and even help with concentration.

I have been trying out the Colorista range by Spectrum Noir and LOVE it. The Spectrum Noir Colorista range is a collection of alcohol markers, wax-based coloured pencils and premium paper pads designed specifically for enthusiasts of adult colouring. The colouring pads are of high quality and some of them even include colourable spot-foil accents and glitter. The range also includes an array of beautiful colouring pencils and alcohol markers that will bring intricate patterns/pictures to life once coloured.

The colouring pads come in 2 different sizes - A4 (ideal for using at home) and a handy 5"x7" size which is perfect while travelling. The paper quality is excellent in both the sizes - it is heavyweight art paper (no colour seepage even with the markers) and you can pull out individual pages once done to display them. My favourite has been the A4 size Eastern Promise pad. It has beautiful intricate designs and I love the process of deciding which colours I am going to use and how I am going to blend the colours. And when the page is all done it feels so nice - a few hours well spent doing something that gives pure joy.

The Colorista coloured pencils make use of wax based lead and thus allow for easy blending and shading when you colour. There are six sets with eight coloured pencils in each. The Colorista markers are dual tipped with the ultra fine nib perfect for colouring the detailed and intricate parts. These alcohol based markers give good coverage and blend seamlessly giving a good finish. One of the better quality markers I have used in recent times. The markers come in sets of five and there are six such sets in total.

Overall I am much impressed with the Colorista range from Spectrum Noir. Everything in the range reflects a very good quality - glitter and colourable foil designs, use of artist quality black paper, metallic pencils etc. They are bringing in new ideas and techniques and I am sure all colourists (beginners or experienced) will like and appreciate this.
