I love cleaning! I am not obsessive about it but I don't like mess and find that I am much more relaxed when my surroundings are clean and tidy. I also like cleaning gadgets and tools. Yeah, you heard me right and might find it weird but I actually like trying out new cleaning products. One of my favourite finds from last year was the Gtech AirRam MK2, a high performance cordless vacuum cleaner that I absolutely love using.

Last month I was sent the new Spontex Full Action System Mop & Bucket to review and needless to say I was quite excited. This latest offering from Spontex is a microfiber fringe spin mop and bucket with a clever 360 degree rinsing and wringing system.

When the Spontex mop arrived, I was surprised to find that it was more compact than I had expected. There was no instruction manual in the box but I had the unit assembled in a couple of minutes - very easy to put together. An user guide would however make a good addition.

According to Spontex
The mop head is made from thousands of super absorbent microfibers, so the number of contact points with the surface is greater than a standard mop, making it ultra efficient at picking up dirt and dust! The bucket has been specially designed to minimise splashing when rinsing and the clever spout means you can empty it without splashing water everywhere and on top of that it’s also quick and easy to clean!

I liked the bucket design - very well thought of. Like the makers claim, it reduces splashing considerably and is easy to clean as well. The mop head has good coverage and is very absorbent. The bucket has a pole like structure in the centre. Once you have filled the bucket with water (I added some floor cleaner although you can skip it and just use plain water to clean), you clip the mop on to the pole. The handle is where the magic is - you need to gently press the handle down and the system will rinse and wring the mop head effectively and easily. When you pull the handle towards you, the mop is unclipped and ready for you. It is definitely much more convenient than a standard bucket and mop.

You can watch this video to get a better idea of how the system works.

The Spontex system can be used on different types of floors like wood, tiles and even laminate. The compact size means that it is perfect to pack away out of sight and the microfiber mop head is even machine washable up to 60°C, making the cleaning easier.

Overall, I liked this mop from Spontex. I still use my steam mop regularly for a deep clean but this one is handy to have - especially for spot cleaning and to wipe up spills in the kitchen. If you are looking for a new mop, then this one from Spontex is great. I especially liked the self-wringing system - a great feature for removing the excess water from the mop.

  1. I smiled when I saw this comp: I threw away our old mop as I bought a steam floor cleaner. My hubby says 'why did you do that?' I told him that it was more hygienic to steam clean the floor. He goes: huh? I think you are going crazy - I prefer the mop!
