A couple of days back the DPD man arrived with a box - the June Degustabox. I have been receiving the food subscription box for a while now (Thank you Degustabox UK) but I still feel as excited waiting for the box as I did when my first box arrived.

For those of you who haven't heard of Degustabox, it is a monthly food subscription box. Each month you receive a box full of tasty food and drinks - a mix of new and known, brands and products. The box is usually delivered after the 20th of each month and because you never know what you are going to get, it is always exciting waiting for the box and then unboxing it.

Let's see what we received in the latest box.

  • Butterkist Yoghurt Popcorn, £1.49
  • Haywards Silverskin Tangy Onions, £1.89
  • Branston Spicy Tomato Relish, £1.65
  • Zeo Cloudy Lemonade, £2.75
  • Shwartz American Smokehouse Burger Mix, £1.49
  • Amoy Rich & Creamy Coconut Milk, £1.99
  • Sacla Pesto Pots, £2.79
  • Bakedin Mug Brownie Mix, £1.50
  • Smooze Coconut & Mango Fruit Ice, £2.50
  • Wychwood King Star Crafted Lager
  • Miracle Noodles, £2.49
  • Destrooper Olivier Belgian Biscuits, £1.10

I was very excited to see a box of fruit ices frmo Smooze. These are somewhat akin to ice lollies. They are made with freshly pressed coconut milk and you need to freeze the box overnight before enjoying the fruit ice. We received the Mango flavour and liked it. It did not take long to finish all the fruit ices. Another product that disappeared quite quickly was the Destrooper-Olivier butter waffle crisps - amazing quality and taste. Wychwood King Star Craft Lager - all I can say is I enjoyed the chilled can!

A brownie in 2 minutes! There was a small (one portion) Bakedin miracle mug brownie which will come in use as an afternoon treat for myself. Zeo cloudy lemonade - perfect for a sunny afternoon. Mr.H loves Branston relishes and in just a few days a quarter of the bottle has been used up. Sacla pesto pots came in very handy. I liked the fact that these come in small pots making it easier to retain freshness.

There was a can of Amoy Coconut Milk and a packet of Schwartz Smokehouse burger mix, both of which have found place in the food cupboard but will be put to use in the coming weeks. I like pickled vegetables but had never tried pickled onions for some unknown reason. This was a good opportunity to try them. I used them in my favourite cheddar cheese sandwich and it made a good flavoursome addition.

Miracle noodles were new to me. I have never used them earlier and while I did not enjoy the smell of the noodles (when I first opened the packet), the prepared noodles were good. I followed the instructions and washed them as suggested and finally with the addition of the curry sauce the initial smell disappeared. The noodles had a texture very unlike the regular noodles but I did like it. The fact that they are low calorie, soy free, vegan and gluten free was a plus point.

The product of the month was Butterkist Yoghurt Popcorn. I love popcorn and enjoy trying out new flavours. Mr.H doesn't like any kind of sweet popcorn, so it was left to me to try this new flavour. And did I like it? Unfortunately, no. It was too sweet for my liking. Not something I would pick up while shopping.

But overall, we are really pleased with this month's box. A good and interesting selection of products and some brands we had never heard of. If you enjoy trying new foods like us, then I would recommend that you try out Degustabox.
