August 2015 Degustabox

The August Degustabox was a wonderful box. It was a predominantly 'treat and snack' box - filled with goodies that we enjoyed eating. Let's take a look at the brands and products that were included in the box.

Bahlsen made its way again into Degustabox. Not that I am complaining. Pick UP! Dark Chocolate was delicious. Who wouldn't like rich, dark chocolate sandwiched between two light butter biscuits? Yummy. Choco Leibniz White was the opposite of Pick UP! as in the creamy white chocolate covered a crisp cocoa biscuit. Mr.H liked these.

There were 3 packs of Dr. Oetker Mug Cakes - Rich Chocolate, Chocolate Chip and Lemon. These sounded perfect for quickly coming up with an indulgent sweet treat. All you need is to do is simply add milk and microwave for under two minutes. While the taste was good, the cakes did not have the fluffy texture I was expecting.

Continuing the list of indulgent treats - I was very happy to see samples of Walkers Short Bread. My first memory of these shortbreads is seeing them in hotels in Scotland. We received four varieties and both me and Mr.H quickly picked two packs each. Really indulgent! Yummy!

DB's Discoveries product for this month was Delicious Alchemy Oaty Cookie Mix. I had not heard of them earlier. They are an award-winning company dedicated to creating gluten free food. They make all kinds of mixes (cake and bread) and breakfast cereals. The Gluten and Dairy Free Oaty Cookie Mix that we received is said to make 10 crisp golden cookies.

Ryvita is a brand I love. There were two lovely flavours of crisp bread from them: cracked black pepper and sesame. While the sesame one had a lovely nutty flavour and tasted yum with a light spread of butter, the black pepper one was my favourite. It has a wonderful flavour with a subtle, spicy kick. It tasted delicious when topped with soft, Greek cheese.

Two products from Barilla were included in the August box - Penne Rigate and Arrabbiata Sauce - perfect for dinner. We had this over the weekend after we received the box. A bowl of sweetcorn, some courgette and shallots and loads of cheese was all I needed to cook up a tasty meal. It was delicious and filing. Because the sauce included a blend of chillies giving it a spicy taste, the meal got a thumbs up from both of us. We love our spice!

LifeTonics Hydration PLUS Coconut Water: One of the earlier Degustaboxes had included a bottle of coconut water which I had not liked at all because it taste kind of like plastic. But this one from LifeTonics was lovely. No funny taste and no refined sugars or artificial sweeteners. Perfect to hydrate your body while also getting some essential vitamins & minerals.

Scheckter's Organic Energy drink is 100% natural and organic. It is nothing but sparkling spring water with organic pomegranate, elderberry and lemon juice. Mr.H tried this and said that it had a refreshing taste.

I have saved my favourite for the end - Williamson Ginger Grove Tea. I love ginger in my tea. My morning tea is always strong and flavoured with a piece of fresh ginger. Needless to say, I was happy to see this box of tea. The ginger tea was soothing and uplifting. I also tried incorporating the ginger tea into a cocktail with good results. You can see the recipe here.

Overall, the August box was a good mix of products, I feel. If the concept of Degustabox has got you intrigued and you fancy purchasing a box, then you can make use of this discount code to get £3.00 off your first order. The code is O5DW6.
