Though not a massive coffee lover, I enjoy having a cup of coffee with doughnuts. 'Arabica' is what we normally consume in our household. A couple of weeks back I received an email asking if I would be interested in sampling Black Sheep 'Robusta' Coffee which has a rich and creamy taste with a hint of walnut and dark chocolate(yummy) and a lower-acidity flavour than 'Arabica'. I agreed. The mention of walnut and dark chocolate was enough to tempt me :)

Robusta Revival - 100% Specialty Grade Robusta (Ground Beans)
227g for £7.90

The brand in question - Black Sheep Coffee - is a pioneering new company that has launched the UK’s first fine Robusta bean product. Black Sheep Coffee was founded by four friends - Gabe, Anders, Eirik and Max - who quit their respective corporate jobs to follow their passion for coffee.

There is a general assumption among people that Robusta is only used for low-grade instant coffees, but Black Sheep Coffee are here with their 'Robusta' coffee to debunk that assumption. Their product comes from a single-estate(the Sethuraman Estate) in India. It is the only estate in the world to have received three “Fine Robusta” certifications by tasting experts. I am not surprised since coffee is loved and widely consumed in South India from where I originally come :) The Robusta coffee from Black Sheep is available as beans or ground. I opted to try out the 'ground' version.

Both myself and Mr.H (he is more of a coffee lover than me) have had this coffee many times over the past 2 weeks. It has a smoother and full bodied taste compared to the 'Arabica' that we have got accustomed to drinking. However, the aroma is something that I am unable to adjust to.

The Robusta beans are very low in acidity. So that makes this coffee a perfect early morning cup for people who have acidity problems. Robusta beans also naturally contain twice the amount of caffeine as their Arabica counter-parts which means this will be the perfect cuppa if you have a very active lifestyle. If you have not tasted 'Robusta' earlier or have apprehensions about its quality, then you should try the Black Sheep Robusta Revival Coffee with an open mind. You will be surprised by its taste and caffeine punch, but the fragrance may take some time adjusting to.

You can check out the entire product range here: www.leavetheherdbehind.com And now comes the best part. One lucky reader of DB Reviews stands a chance to win the following:
